Secret Service investigating after Deputies find child porn, castration equipment in man's home

Secret Service investigating after Deputies find child porn, castration equipment in man's home

SLAPOUT, AL (WSFA) - An Elmore County man is behind bars after authorities say he mailed sexually explicit material to an inmate at a treatment center for Sexually Dangerous Persons. When authorities searched his home they found child porn and castration equipment.

Elmore County Sheriff's Deputies were made aware of 68-year-old Edward Bodkin, a Slapout resident, after they were contacted by the Massachusetts Treatment Center for Sexually Dangerous Persons. An inmate at the center received sexually explicit mail containing child porn and photos of other sexual acts from Bodkin.

Craigslist sting nets Target theft arrest

PRATTVILLE, AL. (WSFA) - Complaints from a local Target store about strange and fraudulent returns prompted Prattville Police to conduct an undercover sting stemming from a Craigslist listing.

Wetumpka resident Kristy D. Morris, 36, was arrested for receiving stolen property after undercover authorities answered a Craigslist posting to purchase items they believed were stolen from a local Target store.

The Prattville Police Department originally received complaints that unknown females were purchasing electronic items, making a swap, and then returning the packages. The females would buy the electronic item, remove it and replace it with something similar in weight such as flour, brown sugar or baby formula. They would even go so far as to reseal and re-laminate to package to cover up the swap.

They would then return the package for a cash refund and attempt to sell the stolen item.

Paranormal investigation: Before fire razed it, Hotel Talisi famous for great fried chicken, ghosts

The Hotel Talisi burned to the ground in a highly publicized case of arson not long ago. City leaders in Tallassee have vowed to rebuild the beautiful old piece of our state history, which was one of the last remaining old-fashioned "downtown" hotels in an Alabama small town. The hotel, which was a favorite among Auburn fans who were visiting for football games, was known for its restaurant's legendary fried chicken -- and for a slew of stories about unexplained sightings, songs played on a ghostly piano, doors opening and closing, and a sense of dread and forboding in certain parts of the building.

Before the fire, Shawn Sellers, a Montgomery sensitive and founder of Southern Paranormal Researchers, conducted an investigation into the allegations of the supernatural happenings.
