The Auburn Montgomery baseball team closed out the non-conference portion of its 2013 schedule on Tuesday by sweeping a doubleheader from visiting Blue Mountain College. The Warhawks took the opener 5-1 and rallied for a 7-6 win in nine innings in the nightcap.

With the sweep, AUM improved to 32-18-1 on the season, while the Toppers fell to 10-36 overall.

In the opener, Nathan Taylor (2-0) tossed three no-hit innings and Hayden Hillyer drove in a pair of runs to lead the Warhawks.

AUM took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning, with Hillyer delivering the key hit with a two-run single. Bryan Young led off the frame with a double, before consecutive bunt singles by Branden Kelley and Chad Mansmann helped to score Young. Shane Turner also reached on a bunt hit later in the inning.

A pair of insurance runs scored on a Josh Thompson infield single in the sixth inning.

The Huntingdon baseball team rallied to beat Point University 8-7 in 10 innings on Wednesday night.
 
It was the Hawks’ 14th straight win at Posey Field. With three road games remaining this weekend, Huntingdon (28-9) closes the regular season with an 18-1 record at home this season.
 
In Wednesday’s win, Trammell DeJarnett scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game 7-7 and Caleb Astin drew a bases-loaded walk to score Grant Brown in the bottom of the 10th for the win.
 
The Hawks, who played a total of 20 players in the game, built a 5-0 lead early before falling behind 7-6 in the eighth inning. In the bottom of the ninth, Cameron Lewis singled with one out and DeJarnett came in to run for Lewis.

Auburn Montgomery senior Eran Franks was selected the ninth recipient of the Army ROTC Athletic Achievement Award for the 2012-13 school year on Wednesday, for his efforts both on and off the baseball field.

Criteria for the Army ROTC Athletic Achievement Award includes being certified for eligibility and involved in participation of a varsity sport; performance on the field or court during the previous two weeks; contributions to the team's success through their individual leadership skills, their commitment to teamwork, their extra effort during practice and their demonstration of sportsmanship; and performance off the field of play, including academic success, character and exemplary community outreach.

During the two weeks of his nomination, Franks helped the Warhawks to a 5-1 mark, with all six games counting toward the Southern States Athletic Conference standings.
