New Chief Deputy District Attorney for the 19th Judicial Circuit named

Wetumpka, AL — October 9, 2012 — Randall Houston, District Attorney for the 19”‘ Judicial
Circuit which includes Elmore, Autauga and Chilton Counties, has promoted C.J. Robinson from
Deputy District Attorney to Chief Deputy District Attorney for the 19th Judicial Circuit.


C.J. Robinson is from Clanton and has served as the Deputy District Attorney of Elmore County
for the past eight months. He served as the Deputy District Attorney of Chilton County for 15
months and as an Assistant District Attorney in the 19th Circuit for three years. C.J. is active in
the community serving as the Vice-Chair of the Chilton County Republican Party, a member of
the State of Alabama Executive Committee for the Republican Party, a member of the Hugh
O’Brian Youth Leadership Executive Cormnittee, and an active member of First Baptist Church
of Clanton, where he serves as a deacon and choir member.

ECSD employee awarded Outstanding Achievement Award in Gifted Education

Ms. Eloyse Seamon, Elmore County Student Services Coordinator, has received the Outstanding Achievement Award in Gifted Education from the Alabama Association for Gifted Children.

Ms. Seamon has coordinated the Elmore County gifted education program for five years.  This program is recognized as a model gifted education program by the Alabama State Department of Education.

School Superintendents Named as Finalists for the Alabama/Classworks 2013 Superintendent of the Year

Montgomery, AL., October 2, 2012 -- The School Superintendents of Alabama (SSA) and
Classworks, an SSA Premium Business Member, are proud to announce the school superintendents who
are finalists for the Alabama/Classworks 2013 Superintendent of the Year. All the finalists will be recognized
at the SSA Fall Conference in Florence during a luncheon on October 8th. The Superintendent of
the Year finalists include Dr. Alan Lee, Baldwin County; Dr. Daniel Boyd, Lowndes County; Mr. Terry
Holley, Covington County; Dr. Jeff Langham, Elmore County; Dr. Craig Witherspoon, Birmingham City;
Dr. Suzanne Lacey, Talladega County; Dr. Jason Adkins, Walker County; Mr. Charles W. (Billy) Coleman,
Cullman County; and Dr. Dale Edwards, Guntersville City.

Capitol Hyundai service advisor wins national competition

Capitol Hyundai service advisor Craig Lyne  recently walked away with top honors in a national competition among Hyundai service consultants and earned a slot to compete in the world competition to be held in Seoul, Korea in October. 

The Hyundai Motor America National Service Consultant Competition was held the week of Sept. 17, 2012 in Dallas, Texas.  Service advisors from more than 400 Hyundai stores across the nation were selected for competition based on productivity, training certification, individual CSI scores, and overall performance.  Mr. Lyne was one of ten finalists selected and secured first place by outscoring his competition on a 50 question test and outperforming his competitors on a 14 point vehicle walk-around.

Students named to Superintendent's Student Advisory Committee

Students named to Superintendent's Student Advisory Committee

Two students from each Elmore County high school and the Elmore County Technical Center have been selected serve on the 2012-2013 Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee and will meet with Superintendent Jeff Langham throughout the school year.  Dr. Langham stated the purpose of the student committee is to give students a voice and enable him to know what students are thinking.  It also provides students a venue to develop leadership skills.

 

The first of several meetings was held this week.  This group of students represent their student body and will discuss various issues and concerns relating to their schools and/or the school system.

Caspari sister pleads guilty to attempting to help her brother escape from jail

ELMORE CO., AL (WSFA) - The sister of an accused capital murder suspect pleaded guilty today for trying to help him escape from the Elmore County Jail.

Jessica Caspari pleaded guilty to escape and promoting prison contraband first-degree. She will be sentenced by Judge Fuller on October 23.

Jessica's brother Josh Caspari is being held at the Elmore County Jail charged with capital murder, theft of property, escape and promoting prison contraband relating to the February 15 death of Anna Cardwell.

Jessica was arrested on two separate occasions for trying to facilitate her brother's escape from custody.

Authorities searching for two escaped inmates from the Elmore County Jail

ELMORE CO., AL (WSFA) - Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin says authorities are searching for two men who escaped from the Elmore County Jail Monday night.

Authorities say the two inmates, 40-year-old Jamie Morgan and 33-year-old Jeremy Hadden, were in their cell at a check at 9:03 p.m. The two managed to escape some time before the next check at 10 p.m. Sheriff Franklin said the building was compromised at that time but could provide no additional details regarding the escape.

Morgan, from Montgomery, had been in the Elmore County Jail for 51 days charged with six counts of second-degree theft of property. Hadden, from Mobile, had been serving in the Elmore County Jail for 224 days for prior escape charges as well as two counts of theft of property first-degree.

Alabama Department of Corrections tracking dogs have been called in to assist in the search. It is believed the escapees traveled by foot approximately one mile north on 231 at the wood line.
