The Montgomery Police Department’s Business Watch Program requests the public’s assistance in identifying the following individual:

Subject is wanted for questioning in regards to Theft of Property throughout the River Region. Several Retail Businesses have observed this subject shoplift in their store and would like to identify him in order to pursue charges.

Wetumpka police search for man who exposes himself at Gold Star Park

WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA)- Parks are supposed to be a place where people can find relaxation within their community.

For some at a Wetumpka park, there won't be any relaxation until authorities find the man who is exposing himself to others.

The Wetumpka Police Department says it is actively searching for the man, whom parkgoers at Gold Star Park say has exposed himself to at least two people. One of those people was a juvenile.

Currently, authorities say they have some leads they're working, but no arrest has been made.

A description of the suspect was not immediately available.

Alabama Power issues lake condition alert

 

Spillway gates will continue operating at Coosa River dams; Weiss, Logan Martin and Smith above summer pool level.

For the next several days, Alabama Power will continue operating spillway gates at its Henry, Jordan, Lay, Logan Martin, Mitchell and Weiss dams on the Coosa River due to persistent and locally heavy rainfall.

The ongoing rain is causing lake levels to rise at some Alabama Power reservoirs. Weiss Lake on the Coosa River is expected to rise near elevation 564.5 feet today, which is nearly a half foot above its normal summer pool elevation.

Logan Martin Lake is expected to crest near elevation 469.5 feet Wednesday, or about 4.5 feet above its normal summer pool elevation. Also Wednesday on the Warrior River, Smith Lake is expected to crest near elevation 512 feet, some 2 feet above its normal summer pool elevation.

Letter carriers to "Stamp out Hunger" with Saturday food drive

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA)- On Saturday, May 11, residents across America will be asked to help "Stamp Out Hunger" in the annual U.S. Postal Service Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

The one-day food drive is the nation's largest single-day food drive across America - and even includes Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.

You can help stamp out hunger as easily as checking your mailbox.

Just leave a bag of non-perishable food items by your mailbox on Saturday, May 11. Your letter carrier will pick it up and the items will be delivered to a local food bank.

Examples of non-perishable food items include:

  • Peanut butter
  • Canned soup
  • Canned meat and fish
  • Canned vegetables, fruits and juices
  • Boxed goods (such as cereal)
  • Pasta and rice

     Despite a rainy start to the weekend it turned out to be a wonderful adoption weekend!  We truly thank the families who were able to open their hearts and homes to 29 of our dogs and cats and we couldn’t be happier for them all!  We greatly appreciate PetSmart Charities and our area PetSmart stores for all they do to help our adoption program and thank all our staff & volunteers for making this a truly successful three-day adoption weekend!  But not to worry if you weren’t able to make it to one of the PetSmarts as we are open for adoptions at the shelter Mon-Thu 10-4; Fri 10-5 & Sat 9-3 so come on out to find your new best friend.

Pedestrian struck by vehicle on U.S. 231 in Wetumpka

WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA)- Authorities are confirming to WSFA 12 News that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon on U.S. Highway 231 in Wetumpka.

Wetumpka police confirm the collision happened across the street from the Captain Ds restaurant.

A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene.

Authorities could not identify the victim, nor could they give any details regarding their condition or how the accident took place.

U.S. Hwy. 231 is one of the busiest roads in the area.

WSFA 12 News has a crew on the scene.

Troy University Alumni Association launches membership campaign

Troy University Alumni Association launches membership campaign

The Troy University Alumni Association has launched its annual “Membership in May” campaign, an effort to keep more alumni engaged with University as a part of the Association, according to Alumni Affairs Director Faith Ward.

The Association currently serves alumni through 52 chapters in the United States and two international chapters located in China and Russia, Ward said.

“In 2012, Troy University celebrated 125 years of service to students in Alabama, the United States and around the world, and we look forward with anticipation to reaching even greater heights this year,” Ward said. “This is the perfect time for our alumni to celebrate our treasured past while looking forward to a bright future.”

The cost of an Alumni Association membership is: $25 per person annually or $500 for lifetime single membership and $750 lifetime couple membership. Payment plans are available for lifetime memberships.
