Humane Society of Elmore County News – 10 Dec ‘12
Rea Cord
Director
There is one more weekend for you to get your pet’s picture taken with Santa and help our shelter. We will be at the Montgomery PetSmart from 11 am – 4 pm this Sat & Sun, 15 & 16 Dec. We will also have dogs and puppies with us looking for homes both days! We do still need Santa’s and volunteers (Santa helpers, photographers and adoption helpers) for both days/locations, so if you can work a shift please either contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Charline Pope, at popecharlie58@yahoo.com or call her at 334-202-1381.
There is only seven days left for us to take back the lead and win $1000 for our animals, so asking everyone to rally and click daily in The Animal Rescue Site “Shelter Challenge” and recruit your friends, family and coworkers to do the same for us. No ‘signing-up’ required and takes about 20-30 seconds at most - just go to www.theanimalrescuesite.com and then go to “The Shelter Challenge” tab on the right side of the page where you can type in our name or the city of Wetumpka to find us. And hint, hint – you can vote via any computer (home, work, school), on your smart phone and also via different web browsers on your computers! It will take some effort to take back the lead but with your help we can do it – thanks everyone for helping!
This time of year many wonderful people drop donations by to help our animals and we want to say how appreciative we are for everyone’s generosity. If you are out and about shopping and are wondering what we need, here is our basic needs wish list of items: Canned Dog/Cat Food
(Chicken Or Lamb Preferred), Vienna Sausages &/or Peanut Butter (helps when medicating dogs), Dog & Cat Toys, Doggy Treats, Towels/Blankets, Bleach, ‘Fabuloso’ Liquid Cleanser, Ammonia, Hydrogen Peroxide, Cat Litter (Non-Clumping), Liquid Dishwashing Soap, Doggy Shampoo, Paper Towels, Toilet Paper, Trash Bags (15, 30 & 45+ Gal), Brooms, Garden Hoses (Heavy Duty), Scotch & Shipping Tape, Copy Paper.
Financial donations are always appreciated as are donations of items to our Thrift Store as all proceeds from our Thrift Store go to help our animals. As a non-profit organization we can give you a tax donation receipt for you to use if you itemize on your taxes. Our Thrift Store is 100% Volunteer run and we sell most anything – clothes, linens, books, furniture, bric-a-brac, appliances, paintings, etc. Our Tails End Thrift Store is open for shopping Thu, Fri & Sat 9-3 and we also have lots of Christmas decorations on sale to check out!
