We have been remiss by not announcing that the 2012 State and Federal Combined Campaigns are underway. These campaigns allow State and Federal employees to donate to charities of their choice and we certainly hope our shelter will be the ‘pick’ of many state and federal employees in our area! If you are a State of Alabama employee, then you can donate to us through the State Combined Campaign and our Agency Code is 106803. Federal employees (which includes active military) can donate to us through the Combined Federal Campaign and our Agency Code is 70006. These campaigns are critical to non-profits and help make donating to deserving charities so easy as supporters can donate either one time or via monthly payroll deduction. We want to thank everyone ahead of time for supporting our shelter and our animals!
Are you clicking? We jumped out in the lead in The Animal Rescue Site Shelter Challenge thanks to our awesome supporters, but know it is going to be a tough fight to stay there so please don’t let up. You can vote once each day on any computer or smart phone you have access to – work, home, school, by going to www.animalrescuesite.com and then to the “Shelter Challenge” tab on the right of the main box of info. Once there either type in our name or select Alabama and then Wetumpka to find us. If you have already voted for us it is even easier as our shelter will automatically pop up on the screen for you to vote for. Winning would really help us so that we can help those animals needing ‘more’ like heartworm treatments, emergency surgeries for serious injuries, rehabilitative care for chronic cases of neglect and more. Thanks everyone for taking literally just a minute of your time every day to help us win $1000 for our animals!
Are you one of our Facebook fans and perhaps need a really cool dog house? We have ten dog houses posted on our Facebook for bidding from now until then end of the month. These are from the 2012 MaGiC (Mentoring a Girl in Construction) Camp where teenage girls learned about construction and how to build various items. Fourteen wonderful girls each built and painted wood dog houses and they donated all fourteen of these super cool dog houses to our shelter! We auctioned off four of them at our Silent Auction and now is the time to find homes for the remaining ten.
These houses are all the same size and would be great for a dog say up to about 40 lbs. They could also make superb cat houses for those outdoor kitties in need of some shelter this upcoming winter! Just think how cute one of these houses would look on your porch!
All you have to do is place your bid (even dollar amounts please) in the comments section on the dog house photo(s) you like on our Facebook. Opening bids start at $15 for each house. The bidding will end on 31 October 2012 and you will be able to pick up & pay for your dog house at our shelter (255 Central Plank Road, Wetumpka, AL 36092) starting on 1 November 2012. Houses not picked up/paid for/bid on by 10 November 2012 may be sold outright at our Thrift Store or Shelter beginning 12 November 2012. Let the bidding begin!!!News from
