     Ready to start clicking for us again?  TODAY is the day!  We are back eligible to win $1000 in The Animal Rescue Site Shelter Challenge and need our supporters to vote every day as we are expecting some stiff competition this go around.   Just go to www.animalrescuesite.com and then to the “Shelter Challenge” tab on the right of the main box of info.  Once there either type in our name or select Alabama and then type in Wetumpka to find our shelter to vote for us.  If you have already voted for us it is even easier as our shelter will automatically pop up on the screen for you to vote for.  And remember – You can vote once each day on any computer or smart phone you have access to – work, home, school, etc.  You can also set this up so you receive an email each day to remind you to vote. We want to jump out of the starting gate today in 1st place so please ask your friends, classmates, family and coworkers to vote for us – costs nothing, no registration required and just a couple of clicks every day will get us to another $1000 for our deserving critters! 

     THREE weeks until our Wags & Whiskers “Bone-A-Fit” Auction on Friday, July 27th at the Wetumpka Civic Center, 212 S. Main Street, Wetumpka.  This evening of fun starts at 6:30 pm and besides a wide variety of treasures (gift certificates, trips, antiques, pet items, paintings, collectibles, furniture, jewelry, coins, etc) we will have great food and drink, door prizes, and just a super evening of fun.  This is both a silent and live auction event with something for everyone and you can preview every item on our special auction website at www.elmorehumane.com.  You can buy tickets ($25 couple/$15 single) at our shelter or at the door and can also still reserve a table for eight for $300 by coming to the shelter at 255 Central Plank Road, Wetumpka.  For any questions on our auction contact Sandy Faulk at 334-541-2505 or email her at silentauction@elmorehumane.com.  We can pretty well guarantee that you will have an enjoyable evening if you join our fun and you might even go home with a new treasure, so hope to see you on the 27th!

     For all the runners out there mark your calendar for Saturday, 29 Sep ’12 for ‘Running Trails for Wagging Tails’ 5 & 10K run at Swayback Ridge here in Wetumpka.  This inaugural run is being done by the Order of the Cimarron and will benefit our shelter!  Registration information will be coming soon on Facebook and we will share that on our shelter Facebook page. There will also be a 1 mile Doggy Trot for those who would rather join in with their dog so this will be a wonderful event for us all to look forward to.

     Pet Fun Fact:  The ten most popular dog breeds in 2011 according to the American Kennel Club are:  Labrador Retriever, German Shepherd, Beagle, Golden Retriever, Yorkshire Terrier, Bulldog, Boxer, Poodle, Dachshund, Rottweiler.
