The Civil Rights Memorial Center (CRMC) will offer free admission Thursday as part of its Nelson Mandela Day celebration.
At noon, the CRMC will screen the documentary Nelson Mandela: Journey to Freedom. It will be followed by a presentation by Georgette Norman, director of the Rosa Parks Library and Museum. Norman will examine the decades Mandela has spent serving his country and the world.
Nelson Mandela Day, which is observed on his July 18 birthday, is an international celebration of his life and call to action for people to change the world for the better. The former South African president, who turns 95 Thursday, has been hospitalized since June for a recurring lung infection.
