Holtville High School to host "Slapout for Sandy Hook"

On Thursday Dec. 20 at 5:30 The Friends of Rachel Club and the SGA of HHS will host “Slapout for Sandy Hook” in front of Holtville High School.  This 30 minute candle lit program will simply be a time for the entire community to reflect the events of last Friday, to pray for the comfort of the victims and their families, and pray for the safety of the children of our community and schools.

There will be special some music, guests speakers, and even some Christmas carols to get everyone in the mood for Holtville Elementary’s celebration of the children’s love for Christmas with their Polar Express Night to begin at 6:00 immediately following the “Slapout for Sandy Hook” program.  We encourage everyone to come be a part of this special night.

Elmore County bands perform in Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game

The Tallassee High School Band, under the direction of Mr. Robby Glasscock, had a memorable week of performances in December - especially being one of the bands selected for the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game held at historic Cramton Bowl in downtown Montgomery on Saturday.

Mr. Glasscock, a former drum major of the Troy University "Sound of the South" band, was also chosen to conduct a pre-game performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" featuring the combined bands of Tallassee High School and Wetumpka High School with over 200 musicians on the field.

The THS Concert and Symphonic Bands performed their annual Christmas Concert on Thursday, and the Tallassee High School Jazz Band also served as the official entertainment for the Alabama Association of School Boards annual meeting in Birmingham earlier in the week.
