Man sentenced for fatal 2010 Lake Martin accident

LAKE MARTIN, AL (WSFA) - A Montgomery man heard his sentence today for his part in a homicide by vessel that killed a woman in Lake Martin over the 2010 Labor Day Weekend.

An Elmore County Judge sentenced Brian Alan Little to five years in prison for the death of 26-year-old Ashley Anne Williams.

An official with the Elmore County District Attorney's office told WSFA 12 News reporter Bryan Henry that Little will ultimately only serve one year of his sentence in jail with three years probation.

Williams was killed after she fell off of a pontoon boat and was then run over by that same boat on Lake Martin during the 2010 Labor Day weekend. Little, the driver of the boat, swam ashore and fled the scene after the accident. Authorities said alcohol was a factor in that accident.

Attorney General Luther Strange announced that a youth minister facing charges in Madison and Cullman counties for sex crimes against children was sentenced today on similar crimes of which he has been convicted in Elmore County.

John A. Astorga was found guilty on April 11 by a jury in Elmore County Circuit Court for two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. During the trial, evidence that was presented by the Attorney General’s Office that included the testimony of three separate victims as well as the pastor of Bethel Assembly of God in Wetumpka where Astorga had been employed.

At today's sentencing, Astorga faced a penalty of one year and one day to ten years imprisonment for each of the two counts, which are class C felonies.

Josh Caspari indicted on capital murder, 3 other charges

WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) - An Elmore County Grand Jury, today, indicted alleged murderer, Josh Caspari on a total of four counts, including capital murder.

According to the office of the Elmore County District Attorney, Caspari was indicted on capital murder, theft of property first degree, escape third degree and promoting prison contraband.

Caspari is accused of killing 20-year-old Anna Cardwell on February 15, 2012.

Caspari allegedly shot Cardwell out of anger on the belief that she was trying to convince her friend to not date him.

Investigators also believe they can link Caspari and alleged accomplice Cody Abernathy to a home invasion from fall 2011. Several weapons were taken during the course of that crime.

Marlon Geovanny Lazo is wanted on Montgomery City warrants for domestic violence third degree (harassment) and violation of a family protection act.

Lazo is 28-years-old, approximately 5'8" weighing in around 180 lbs.

His last known address was on Long Needle Court in Wetumpka. Approach with caution. If you know Lazo's whereabouts you are asked to call 9-1-1 or Central Alabama CrimeStoppers.

UPDATE: Lazo turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday, July 18.

Wetumpka man found with child porn, castration equipment, sentenced to prison

Montgomery, Alabama – Edward Lee Bodkin, 69, of Wetumpka, Alabama, was sentenced to serve 168 months in federal prison for knowingly possessing child pornography, United States Attorney George L. Beck, Jr., announced today.  Bodkin pled guilty to the charges back in March of 2012.  The sentence of fourteen years handed down by United States District Judge William K. Watkins falls within the range prescribed by the federal sentencing guidelines.
