A Prattville man has been arrested and charged with felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident and failing to render aid in connection with a Dec. 31, 2010, traffic fatality in Millbrook.

Greenville PD searching for person of interest in rape case

GREENVILLE, AL. (WSFA) - The Greenville Police Department is searching for Derrick Jereal Rudolph in conjunction with a rape case police are currently working.

Rudolph is 23-years old, approximately 5'8" tall, and weighs around 175lbs.

It is possible Rudolph is staying with a relative in Wetumpka.

Three men arrested and charged with Capital Murder for shooting death of sleeping six-year-old

ECLECTIC, AL. (WSFA) - Three men have been arrested and charged with Capital Murder in the drive-by shooting that killed six-year-old Kenyatta Kendrick and injured 19-year-old D.J. Kendrick.

Aaron McDowell, 18 from Alexander City, Bernard Nix, 17 from Alexander City, and Stalandus Slaughter 25 from Eclectic have all been charged with Capital Murder with no bond and Assault in the First Degree with $30,000 bond.

According to Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin at approximately 3:00 a.m. someone drove by the house one quarter mile from downtown Eclectic on Nichols Avenue firing a number of rounds from a high-powered rifle through the residence. One of those rounds traveled through walls in the residence and killed six-year-old Kenyatta Kendrick. She was asleep in her bed.

Also injured was 19-year-old D.J. Kendrick. He was shot twice, once in the left thigh, and once in the left heel.

On the day a jury was to be selected in the capital murder case against Wetumpka’s Rodriguez Jackson, he decided at the last minute Monday to accept a plea bargain, which may have saved his life.

Jackson, 25, accepted the plea bargain and entered a plea of guilty in the March 2009 shooting death of Derrick Reynolds.

ECLECTIC, AL. (WSFA) - A six-year-old girl is dead and another person wounded after an early morning drive-by shooting in Eclectic.

According to Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin at approximately 3:00 a.m. someone drove by the house one quarter mile from downtown Eclectic on Nichols Avenue firing a number of rounds from a high-powered rifle through the residence. The Elmore County Sheriff's Department has two "persons of interest" in custody at this time - 25-year-old Stalandous Slaughter of Spring Hill is one of them. Sheriff Franklin said he believes the shooting is part on an ongoing feud. The second person of interest has not yet been named.

A Montgomery woman decided Thursday there was just too much Christmas cheer in the lobby of the Elmore County Jail, so she took matters into her own hands.

On her way out she happened to notice four plastic candy canes, which were in two windows near the entrance of the jail, and took them and ran.

A witness noticed the 25-year-old woman taking the decorations and walking toward the circuit court clerk’s office and later told the members of the sheriff’s office.

A couple weeks ago the church treasurer at Seman Congregational Church in the Seman community was counting the money from the Sunday offering.

She was counting the money and stopped all of a sudden because one of the $5 bills didn’t “feel right.”
