Fund set up to help with kindergartner's funeral expenses

TITUS, AL (WSFA) - A fund has been established to help the family of the kindergartner killed while waiting for his school bus pay for his funeral expenses.

Ethan Woods, a 5-year-old Kindergarten student from Wetumpka Elementary was struck and killed by an SUV while waiting to catch the bus to school early Tuesday morning.

A fund has been set-up at the New Home Baptist Church in Titus to assist the family during this difficult time.

Donations can be made out to the New Home Baptist Church, 1605 New Home Road, Titus, AL 36080. Please make sure Ethan Woods is listed on all donations. Cash will not be accepted, only check or money order.

Funeral arrangements for Ethan have not yet been finalized.

WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) - The City of Wetumpka is planning a New Year's Eve bash for Decemeber 31, 2011. The event will take place at the Elmore County Court House starting at 9:30pm.

The event will kick off with recognition of Prisoners of War or those Missing in Action.

At 10:00pm music will be provided by Khamera.

The city will take part in celebrating the NYC Ball Drop at 11:00pm followed by more music.

The night will culminate with the Centrat Time Zone's move into 2012 with an 11:59pm countdown for fireworks!

Boy Scouts reception set to honor Luther Strange and new Eagle Scouts

Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange will be awarded the National Eagle Scout Association’s highest recognition, the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, in a ceremony later this week in Montgomery.  The announcement was made by the Tukabatchee Area Council, the local council of the Boy Scouts of America.  The Council had nominated Strange for the national honor, which recognizes men who, 25 years or longer after becoming an Eagle Scout, have reached the highest national level of success in their field.

This year only 33 individuals throughout the country have been granted the award by the National Eagle Scout Association, headquartered in Irving, Texas.  Previous recipients since the award was established in 1969 have included a U.S.
