Nominations for Young Professonal of Year now open

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Applications are now online for EMERGE Montgomery's Young Professional of the Year Award at www.torchbearersalumni.com or in Montgomery through the Leadership Montgomery Office located at 600 South Court Street, Suite 455. Applications are due back by Friday, Dec. 31. 

This award will recognize the achievements of a young professional in the River Region ages 22-40 who has demonstrated noteworthy commitment to excellence and community service in his or her profession and who has worked to promote the well-being of the  community as a whole. The award will also highlight an individual who demonstrates a high level of leadership, commitment and innovation through professional and personal growth.

The award ceremony will be held at the Capital City Club in Montgomery on Feb.

When a proposed ordinance to surplus city property vacated by the police department on East Charles Avenue was read for the first time Oct. 4, it met with opposition from four of Wetumpka’s five council members. The Wetumpka City Council did not pass a budget for the 2010-11 fiscal year during Monday night’s meeting, although the city’s practice through the years has been to approve a budget annually before the end of September. A new municipal fiscal year begins each Oct. 1.
