In a time where the economy is not exactly stable, the City of Tallassee can rest easier.

Mayor George McCain announced Wednesday morning the city’s retail sales tax revenues are up at its highest since 2006-2007.

Titus Road is in the midst of ongoing work to get ready for a complete resurfacing this summer from U.S. 231 to the county line. The primary link with the Titus community recently reopened after county crews replaced a drainage structure north of Little Weoka Creek Bridge. One other spot needs to be repaired, county engineer Richie Beyer said, between Speigner Road and the entrance to Holiday Shores.

Wetumpka City Council members approved a resolution Monday night allowing the Alabama De part ment of Transportation’s Aeronautics Division to conduct a feasibility study involving the Wetumpka Municipal Airport. The study will determine the costs and benefits of either improving the existing Wetumpka Municipal Airport or developing a new airport for west Elmore County capable of serving corporate aircraft traffic
